You may also try to provide the fruits and vegetables from the market which you trust more because some products are planted with less pesticides even without them. Some packed products are sold clean and washed but still some of them are not completely safe and without contaminants.
Washing fruits and vegetables with natural products:
1-Preclean fruits and vegetables by removing damaged spots, extra stems, or withered leaves. You'd better to not cut fruits and vegetables before soaking them in water, because the cut part can absorb and soak in the contaminants through water as it has lost it's protective skin in the spot.
2-Rinse them in colander with cold water. Vegetables may lose their fresh appearance slightly and soften if they are washed by hot water or in any temperature for a time longer than their tolerance.
3-Some fruits and vegetables have harder skin like citrus and melons. Rub their skin with a sponge or fruit-scrub. You may add vinegar or baking soda while scrubbing. You can also use both vinegar and baking soda in two steps, one by one, but never mix them for this purpose.
4-This best step to clean vegetables and fruits is to soak them in water. You may add 1-2 tea-spoon salt to water and leave them in salty water for 1-5 minutes. Never leave fragile and soft leaves in water for more than 1 minute, as they may lose their color, hardness and even their nutrition.
5-Rub their surface with hands gently while rinsing with cold water for some seconds without pressing on them.
