Prime Minster, Justin Trudeau, announced: “We owe it to our kids to keep our communities clean and that means keeping them free from plastic wastes. This year we announced we will ban single-use plastics as early as 2021.”
On 2015 Montreal was looking to banning plastic bags. CBC News published,
“Canadians take home 55 million plastic bags every week, according to a 2008 Parliament of Canada report. That works out to almost 3-billion each year.
Plastic bags are banned in Bangladesh, Burma and Thailand because of flooding caused when the bags clog up storm sewers.
A plastic bag ban in California has been suspended pending a referendum on the subject in November 2016. The bag lobby gathered enough signatures to launch the referendum.”
